So I would have thought that by now we would have had the baby's room pretty much finished, but I was really wrong. My brother used to stay in the room that is now the baby's room and for some reason we thought it would be ok to let him paint the room and make it feel like his own. He had come home with a cream (white chocolate) and a really dark blue color paint. He poorly painted the 2 long walls the dark blue and the short walls the cream. The paint color isnt terrible but he did manage to get blue paint all over the baseboards and ceiling. So I decided that before the baby comes we needed to do some touch ups. Haas and I went into the closet and pulled out all the cans of paint that my brother bought and found that he bought another color blue that was like a blue/green color. Haas immediately thought it would be cool to paint stripes with that color on the cream walls. It seemed like a good idea at the time and I gave him the ok to do it. I thought for sure that he would have some common sense and measure the wall and figure out how wide each stripe should be and then tape it off. (right? was it wrong for me to assume that? yes he did use a leveler to make sure the stripe would be straight but he didnt actually measure) So when I came back in to check on the progress I found that 2 stripes had been painted on each end of the walls but 1 was significantly wider than the other. He also didnt mix the paint up well and it ended up being runny and the paint bled through the tape, down the wall, onto the baseboards, and onto the carpet. So of course I start stressing out and getting upset. I told him that I love the color but really the color didnt match the other blue walls so I asked him just to repaint the stripes the dark blue so it at least matches. In the mean time I taped off the ceiling and baseboards so I could paint it and started touching up the ceiling with what looked like the ceiling paint. Once that started drying I realized it was the cream that was on the walls and not the ceiling paint at all. It ended up looking pink which of course stressed me out even more. So while our paint dried we ran to Walmart to pick up white paint for the ceiling and baseboards and buy a steam cleaner that we were planning on getting. When we got home Haas started to fix the stripes to make them the same wideth and I started on the ceiling. I got 1 whole side of the room's ceiling touched up and went back to look and the white is clearly not the same color as the ceiling. It is so much more white than the ceiling and looked just as bad as having the blue on there. I decided with the way my luck was going I either wanted to take the baseboards completely off and paint them or buy new baseboards. Haas did not like either idea at all. What else do you do. I know that if I paint them paint will be all over the carpet and we just barely had the carpets professionally cleaned about 3 weeks ago. So I go into a complete meltdown because I am so stressed out and cant take it anymore. I am so upset that we waited so long to start doing all of this stuff. I expected at this time that we would have everything ready and basically just be sitting around waiting for this little guy to come and instead I am melting down. Right after I take a break to calm down I go in to check on Haas progress repainting the stripes and found a big dark blue spot on the carpet. Thats right Haas spilled paint on the carpet and didnt really seem to care. I start freaking out and he tells me that it doesnt matter the crib will be over it anyways. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? you cant just leave paint on the carpet. MEN!!!! So I go scrubbing away at it which of course makes the spot bigger!. Good thing we just bought a carpet cleaner. Luckily most of the blue came up it is slightly discolored from the rest of the carpet. What else can I expect? Right after we get most of that cleaned up Haas' parents came out and saw the mess that we created and being the most wonderful in laws ever!!!!! (thats right you cant have them they are mine!!!!) they decided to have a professional come in to finish the babys room for us. The ceiling, walls, baseboards, and all. It will be a huge weight lifted off of me and of course make me a lot less stressed out. I will try to get before and after pics. Of course I will have after pics but I will try to get the before pics too. Thanks Ellen and Felton you guys are wonderful!!! Love Ya
